Whilst I'm not a huge fan of being a talking head on a podcast, I recently had a chat to the guys from "This Medical Life" podcast about breast augmentation. This discussion (which is geared towards GPs, but also interested patients) was a bit of a warts and all conversation about the good and the bad stuff. So, basically 60 minutes of me blathering on.
Have a listen, tell me I'm wrong, whatever floats your boat.

I was writing a research paper after recording this, and I realise that I actually underquoted the haematoma risk associated with breast augmentation. Interestingly, the risk quoted in the literature is between 2-6% (not 1% as I said)...which is higher than I thought it was! By way of comparison, the haematoma risk for explant surgery is between 1-1.6% in the literature, and yet haematoma is used as an excuse by many surgeons for not doing capsulectomy. How curious, no?
Enjoy your weekend.
