We've recently posted a rather long article over on the blog looking at the current scientific evidence on breast implant illness.
Dr Campbell-Lloyd has put this together in the hope that it will provide a more detailed explanation of what we think is happening to patients with BII. Perhaps just as (if not more) importantly, this article has been written to push back against some of the information that is prevalent on social media. We're strong believers in the fact that without rigorous, objective data, BII will remain a condition which is all to easily dismissed by the medical establishment.
Fortunately, there is an increasing body of scientific literature which is providing us with more answers, albeit without giving us a complete picture. That will take more time yet.
If you are worried about BII, have a read. This article is likely to challenge some of your ideas, and it will certainly challenge what you see elsewhere online. And that is almost certainly a good thing.
